Paris in under 48 hours

HOW I DID PARIS IN UNER 48 HOURS

The only way we were going to be able to afford a trip to Europe in the middle of summer, booking roughly 3 months out was to fly round trip in and out of Paris, and then take our hopper flights to the other destinations from there. I was happy to get any amount of time in Paris as it was my first time, see the main tourist spots and eventually plan a trip to come back and spend more time, so I really didn’t have high expectations for a short 2 night stay, with less than 48 hours to roam the city. We ended up seeing so much more of the city than I thought though! I feel like I got a good sense of some of the different arrondissements and dream of coming back and spending more time in the areas I loved and venturing to areas we didn’t make it to.

Once our flight landed, we weren’t able to get tickets in the time we needed, so we just got an Uber to our hotel, which I believe was comparable timing to what the train would have taken to get in as well, just under 1 hour. Because we had such a short time in the city, I wanted to stay walking or biking distance to the Eiffel tower, the Louvre and Notre Dame. We stayed at Hotel Notre Dame Saint-Michel right on the Seine. It was the cutest boutique hotel with old eccentric charm. Paired with it’s location, it was perfect. It was nothing fancy, but felt unique and fun. The only downfall was the old tub style shower, which I would have killed for an enclosed steaming hot shower after a full day of travel. But we lived & I would still stay again. For a 10% discount and no pre-payment you can use code NODAM when booking!

Day 1:

-Visit to the Louvre with pre-booked tickets.

-Stroll as far as we could go on foot around the area we were staying in, stop into little shops & cafe’s.

-Dinner.

-Evening walk to the Eiffel tower, where we ended the night with a bottle of red wine and waited until nearly 11pm for the lights to come on & see it sparkle.

Day 2:

-Went right downtstairs to the neighboring cafe for breakfast crepes and waffles.

-Walked over to Notre Dame, which was still under construction from the fire the year prior.

-Hopped on the train to Champs-Elysees then to Montmartre. I didn’t think we would have the time to make it over to Montmartre in our short time there, but ended up being my favorite little part of our time in Paris! We tried right away to snag any tickets we could to see a performance at the Moulin Rouge, but unfortunately it was sold out for the day. (something I would have pre-booked, but didn’t even expect to make it to)

-Wandered around the artsy district for the day, stopping for drinks, stumbling apon the Wall of Love, making it up to the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur to see the most incredible birds eye view of Paris.

-Dinner at Pink Mamma – reservations recommended, but we happen to be there right when they opened and got a seat at the bar. The place was poppin! (it’s a pretty touristy spot because of Tik Tok, but the atmosphere, quirky menue and style and food was well worth the hype)

-Trained back to our hotel, grabbed a bottle of red wine and ended or last night in paris sitting on the Seine as the moonlight glistened on the water.

Though our time was short, I would not have spent it in any other way. I feel like we got a lot in, saw the must-see’s and still got to wander too, which is my favorite thing to do in any new city.
