Hotel Highlight: The Hoxton

Filed in Hotels, Travel — June 26, 2023

The Hoxton, London + Los Angeles

My first time staying at the Hoxton was in Downtown LA, and while Downtown LA itself was quite sub-par compared to all of the other areas of Los Angeles we could have been in, I was smitten by the hotel and looked further into all of the locations they have across Europe & the U.S. Whenever I am going somewhere, I always first look to see if there is a Hoxton location because it is a tride and true hotel where you know what you’re getting and know what kind of price point to expect as well. If it works out that a Hoxton is near where we want to be in any given city, we’ll most likely stay. It’s one less thing to research and worry about and I can always count on it setting the right vibe for any trip. For this blog, we’re gonna talk about the London locations: Shoreditch + Shepherds Bush.

AMENITIES + LOCATION

We flew round trip in & out of London for a 10 day trip touching shortly in London but most of the time in Scotland & Ireland. I did a ton of research figuring out wehre we wanted to end up after dinner time for our first ever night in London ( a super short half day & one full night before we would be up first thing catching an uber to the airport and a flight over to Glasgow) and I landed on Shoreditch. I found that we’d be guaranteed a good time between great food spots and nightlife & the Hoxton’s first ever location right in the middle of everything could not have been a better 1-night stay. A 2 minute walk over to our dinner reservation at Gloria – a big mamma group Italian restaurant. And easy enough to hop back into the hotel to leave our left overs, freshen up, change shoes and hit the town for drinks, live music, bars and pubs recommended by the receptionist at the hotel check-in desk. Although our time was short, I still feel that we got to enjoy some of the amenties offered right there in the lobby, a bar, lounge dinner and breakfast coffee bar made it so we could make our own hotel our last stop of the night and the first stop of the morning to grab something before we hit the road again.

For the last night of trip, back in London again, we stayed at one of the other Hoxton locations on the other side of town. We picked Shepard’s Bush for it’s proximity to Notting Hill, and other touristy stops we didn’t get to do on the first day. It was great for that, and the hotel itself was amazing. The cutest aesthetic, a restaurant and bar with great food, drinks and atmosphere. Outside of that though, this was not the area to stay for any fun night-life. While the hotel had it’s own unique charm that the Shoreditch one differed from, we all preferred the shore ditch location just in terms of things around it to do.

ROOM

The room at the Shoreditch location was far more modern feeling than some of the other Hoxton locations, that are slightly more retro-chik feeling, but it totally fit the vibe of the neighborhood we were in. It felt like we were able to walk straight off the street at nighttime, into the lobby and up into our room within the same world. The HUGE mirror was every girls getting-ready dream too.

The room at the Shepherds Bush location was very classic Hoxton and cute in every way, so simple and clean but the cutest retro nods throughout and I couldn’t get over a killer view of an old london skyline and train going by.

PRICE-POINT

$$

Another reason that the Hoxton is an easy go-to booking is the middle of the road pricing. It will never be the most expensive nor the most affordable in it’s area and you can plan to get exactly what you pay for. It’s a great place and price point for a short 1-3 night stay. Any longer and an airbnb would be more afforable. But for our quick 1-night stays where we wanted comfort, cleanliness, relibility and LOCATION, the price was perfect.
